Snow and Ice Thursday will start what may be an EPIC Snow Blitz across the state.

The first in a series of potentially several winter storms will affect the state between 6am and noon on Thursday. Although it won't be a lot of snow, the combination of ice and the timing of the snow will cause plenty of traffic issues and school closures.

The snow will start after 5am and be heavy at times between 7-10am before switching to sleet and freezing drizzle before ending after 1pm.

Most towns will see 2-3" of snow with a few towns possibly seeing up to 4" (especially Western CT). On top of the snow, up to a tenth of an inch of ice is expected.

The afternoon commute Thursday will be quiet weather wise, with wet roads and temperatures above freezing.

The next storm system will arrive Saturday night, this looks to be much more significant, however the timing will be perfect and mitigate travel issues. Super Bowl Sunday afternoon will be quiet weather wise with no travel issues.

There are potentially several more storms in the pipeline after Sunday AM, stay tuned!
