Winter 2025-2026 has certainly made up the deficit of snow we've been missing over the past three years. We've seen at least one significant (6"+) snowfall for each month of meteorological winter (Dec, Jan, Feb) with many smaller snow events peppered throughout. March is a very volatile month with winter still fighting to hold on and spring fighting to take over. We can easily see temperatures sore into the 70s and 80s and have multiple chances for winter storms. It's not over yet, but let's take a look at where we are to date in terms of snowfall, ending March 2nd.

Below are the major airport sites and how much snow we've seen at those areas and how it compares to normal. Every site is above to well above normal for snowfall!

Location (Airport Code) - Snowfall to date/Normal snowfall to date/% of normal

  • Stratford, CT (BDR) - 55.9"/26.4"/212%

  • Windsor Locks, CT (BDL) - 52.3"/42.1"/124%

  • New York, NY (NYC) - 43.4"/24.9"/174%

  • Newark, NJ (EWR) - 54.5"/26.0"/210%

  • Warwick, RI (PVD) - 68.8"/30.2"/228%

  • Boston, MA (BOS) - 61.5"/39.5"/156%

  • Worcester, MA (ORH) - 77.2"/58.5"/132%

Looking forward through March we can expect warmer than normal temperatures over the next 10 days with several chances for rain. There even appears to be a significant warm up coming with temperatures possibly climbing into the 60s and 70s. Colder and continued active weather appears likely for mid to late March with the possibility of more wintry weather. Stay tuned.
