We are tracking another storm system that will affect our weather in Connecticut over the next 24 hours. This time we don't expect any winter weather to affect our state. However, this storm will still have an impact with a long duration of gusty winds leading to scattered power outages and some scattered heavy rain showers. Winds will pick up after 9am this morning with wind gusts occasionally over 40mph possible through this evening. Temperatures will be mild with mostly cloudy skies with highs between 53-58 degrees this afternoon. Heavy rain showers will move in after 9pm accompanied with a period of potentially damaging winds through 10am Friday morning. Here is our forecast map of peak wind gusts. The SE corner of the state is currently under a high wind watch, and may see wind gusts over 60 mph.

Temperatures will spike to near 60 degrees with noticeable humidity around daybreak Friday before a strong cold front returns temperatures back into the 30s for much of Friday and the weekend, a few snow squalls and snow showers are possible Saturday afternoon as quick shot of even colder air moves in Saturday night and Sunday AM.
Another mild push of air will work into Connecticut early next week accompanied with some rain showers Tuesday and early Wednesday, before a likely return to winter weather returns for the last few days of February and first week of March. The next threat of wintry weather in Connecticut is next Thursday. You can see below on the temperature graph how we cool down after Friday AM, warm up early next next week, then return to winter quickly by next Thursday through early March. The last image is this mornings GFS model showing a wintry mix over Connecticut next Thursday, this storm is still 7 days away and will have plenty of tricks up its sleeve.
