Record high temperatures were absolutely obliterated today at all ten climo sites across Southern New England and the Tri-State Area. These are some of the highest temperatures we've seen since July 2011. Most locations in CT today topped off around 100 degrees with heat indices up to 110F.
Most records were broken by three to seven degrees. The highest temperature occurred in Newark, NJ with a mind boggling 103F. Five sites entered the triple-digit club, Boston, Providence, JFK, Islip and Newark. For Boston this was the hottest temperature reached since 2011 and the third highest temp ever on record.

We'll see some decrease in temperatures and humidity tomorrow with highs in the low to mid 90s but still very hot! The heat wave finally ends on Thursday with temps dropping closer to even below normal in the lower 70s. This is due to a cold front passing through the region on Wednesday night. Along with it comes the chance of showers and thunderstorms.
