Updated 8pm Monday February 15th, 2021.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for the entire state for a glaze of ice up to one to to tenths of an inch. The best chance of .2" or more would be the north west hills.

Here's our forecast map of potential icing, you can see the darker pink and purple in the hills in north west CT have the best chance at more than .25" of ice which is a significant amount of ice, the rest of the state just a glaze indicated by the pink shading. Remember any ice on the roads can cause travel issues, take it easy until temperatures rise well above freezing.

TIMING:

Tonight through 2am - periods of light freezing rain and freezing drizzle, there will be many slick spots tonight especially in the hills.

2am through Tuesday 6am - Periods of freezing rain turning to all rain from south to north. Significant icing possible in the highest hills in north west CT. Most of see just a glaze to two tenths of an inch of ice just north of the shoreline.

Tuesday after 6am - Temperatures rise above freezing statewide possibly 45-50 degrees. Periods of heavy rain and some minor flooding possible from snow melt and heavy rain.

THURSDAY STORM

Snow likely in the morning changing to sleet and freezing rain. Several inches of snow and sleet possible then significant icing possible. We will have more on this potential after the Tuesday storm. Here are the Euro ensemble probabilities of 3" or more, it has 80-90% probability for the entire state to see a quick 3-6" of snow. The probabilities of 6" or more are pretty low meaning this shouldn't be a big snowstorm but several inches of snow and sleet are possible before icing. This storm is still 96 hours out, so we expect some changes to this forecast. Stay tuned.
