Snow is anticipated to begin on Friday night between 6:00 and 8:00 PM, gradually moving eastward. By Saturday morning, approximately one inch of snow is expected. However, a band of heavy snow squalls is predicted to arrive around daybreak, potentially adding an additional coating to one inch of snow on Saturday morning. In Eastern Connecticut, the snow may persist due to the formation of a narrow band of snow known as an "inverted trough," which could result in 2 to 4 inches or more of snow in areas where the band establishes itself. On Saturday, the snow will be accompanied by winds of 30 to 50 mph, leading to periods of low visibility as well as blowing and drifting snow.

An extreme cold warning is in effect for Saturday and Sunday as temperatures and wind chills will drop throughout the day Saturday, bottoming out between 20 and 30 below zero overnight Saturday into Sunday morning. The winds will make this cold outbreak extra tough to deal with, any prolonged period outdoors with exposed skin could result in frostbite in as little as 20-30 minutes.
