Monday January 10, 2022 update.
Arctic air will continue to move in as the day progresses with temperatures dropping into the single digits tonight with wind chills as low as -10 to -20 by sunrise Tuesday. Some school delays or closings are possible Tuesday due to dangerously cold wind chills. Highs will struggle to highs of 5 to 15 degrees by Tuesday PM, with wind chills around or below zero much of the day.

The worst of the cold will lift out for Wednesday, then we turn our attention to multiple storm threats starting late this week through the extended forecast. Each snow threat will have a greater risk of affecting our state as we enter a more favorable pattern for CT snow storms.
First snow threat is Friday, this is still a very low probability snow threat as most guidance indicates this will remain out to sea. It will not take much though to pull this potential storm west and give CT a glancing blow of accumulating snow. The map below shows numerous potential low pressure locations for Friday, all well to our south and east indicating the most likely outcome is a miss for now. JDJ storm probability: Very low.

Sunday snow threat. This snow threat has a bit of a better shot at affecting CT. A clipper system coming south east from Canada will try to reform to our south and bring a round of snow to CT. There is still plenty of uncertainty regarding the potential of this storm to come up the east coast and bring snow to CT. The map below shows plenty of low pressures far enough north to bring accumulating snow to CT. About 1/3 of the 51 European ensembles. This storm certainly requires our close attention. JDJ storm probability: Low

There is also a third storm in the pipeline for late next week. This storm is still 10+ days away so we will keep an eye on it until it gets into closer range. Here is a look at that set up as well you can see plenty of forecasted low pressures off to our south east which is rare to see at 10+ days out.
