Arctic cold tonight into Sunday. Significant storm potential Sunday night through Tuesday.

We made it through half of the winter without a true shot of arctic air, however that is about to change in a big way this evening as a shot of very cold air moves in. I've attached the "feels like temp" tomorrow morning, 10 to 20 degrees below zero! Bundle up!

All of our attention is on the development of a significant winter storm in the Sunday night through Tuesday timeframe. This storm is likely to bring heavy snow to the mid-atlantic region Sunday, the question then is where exactly does the storm track from there. We do expect snow to develop late Sunday night and last through Monday, but plenty of uncertainties from there.

What we still have to fine tune is

- Storm timing.

- Storm track and strength

- Precipitation type as mixing is possible across much of the state if the storm trends closer.

- Exact snowfall amounts.

We will have a much better idea on this all by Saturday morning.

The images below first show the storm overview along with the current ensemble probabilities of 6" or more of snowfall for the American and European guidance.
