Some of the hottest weather we've seen in years, possibly over a decade is coming early next week. Starting today, June 22nd, we'll see temperatures in the low to mid-90s. Combined with the humidity it will feel like near 100F. These temperatures will only climb as we go into Monday and Tuesday. The hottest day will likely be Tuesday with a forecast of around 100 degrees for most of the state.
When was the last time we saw triple digits? Inland, official records are kept at Bradley International Airport and it was six years ago, July 2019, they reached 100F. Before that, the previous four times also occurred in the 2010s. While it's not a yearly occurrence, it is pretty common to see triple-digit weather at our Hartford area climo site. Along the shore, records are kept at Bridgeport Airport, Igor Sikorsky. Here the last time was over a decade ago in 2011. Temperatures climbed all the way to 103 which is also the all-time high for the location.

We are currently under an extreme heat warning for most of CT which means temperatures near 100F along with the humidity will make it feel like 105-110F on Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will fall a bit on Wednesday but we'll still be in the 90s.

Take extra precautions if you plan to spend time outside and remember to stay hydrated. Stay tuned we will have continuous updates on this heat wave over the coming days.
