Snow squalls present a few travel dangers. Number one they quickly drop visibility to near zero out of nowhere with briefly heavy snow and very strong winds, intense snow squalls are known to cause massive traffic pile ups in the Great Lakes Region. Secondly they can create extremely slippery roads in two ways. Number one, a quick inch of snow on all roads is possible in the most intense squalls, the second is what we are concerned about for tomorrow, temperatures drop quickly from the 30s to the 20s creating a flash freeze with up to an inch of snow on top of the black ice. Keep this threat in mind if you head out today between 1pm and 5pm we will try and pinpoint exact timing and threat areas tonight and early tomorrow. Here's a forecast radar for 4pm showing an intense snow squall moving through CT with a lighter one moving through earlier.
